The Archdiocese of Boston uses the following guidelines for their religious education program and the reception of the sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation. This is the program we are following for both English and Spanish religious education.
First Communion: (2years of formation required). Children enrolled in the second grade of school who are 7 years of age will prepare for and celebrate the sacrament of First Reconciliation during the first year preparation.
Children enrolled in their third year of school and who are 8 years of age will prepare and celebrate the Sacrament of First Communion during their second year of formation.
Post- Communion: Children who have received their celebrated their First Communion and who are ages 9 through 12 participate in this ongoing formation class where topics of their interest and of our faith are discussed in a more profound matter. Topics such as our Church history, teaching, and liturgy will de discussed.
Confirmation: (2 years of formation are required). Young people enrolled in eighth grade and who are 13 years of age will participate in the first year of preparation.
Young people enrolled in the ninth grade and who are 14 years of age will participate and receive the Sacrament of Confirmation during their second year of formation
